Worldwide Vegan Bakesale for Japan*!~

     A couple projects are in the works...therefor VEGAN BAKING*!~
I'm super stoked, I miss making lots of goodies. The lack of an oven has...definately put a damper on my overall cooking experimentation. I love woks, frypans, soup pans, all sorts of kitchen gadgets...but blenders and stove tops can only take you so far.

Mipa over at Alien's Day Out is organizing a Worldwide Vegan Bakesale for Japan...

It's going to be on the 30th at Roofers in Itaewon~~

I'll be making some gluten free goodies...Hope to see you there^^*!~

Otsal eats

     I have no idea where the time has gone...it's been a while since I've been updating the vegan world. I've been super busy with new classes, adjusting, and sending a good friend off home.
     One of my dear friends left back to her homeland, spending time with her has been more than memorable and brilliant...after a full weekend and a day of bike riding, we along with some others went to dinner at Seoul University, Indian noms!!

They have some vegan friendly options, more vegetarian friendly than Vegan friendly though (ghee, cream...butter...le sigh::)
The interior was really cute, smooth steamy lighting (I felt so instantly comfortable) and there were lots of seats around, booths too! The plce has large LCD tvs rolling through series of bollywood...whcih my eyes couldn't help but be attracted to.
     My buddies and I were rather hungry so upon getting the menus...conversing came to an automatic halt. After asking questions and going through the option(s) I went with the pakodas and the dahl fry~

The pakodas were chickpea flour and chopped veggies, lightly pan fried, and came with a tamarinade sauce. It was cute, and the portion I think was perfect. Not overwhelming, and filling enough...but def left room for some dahl!! Not the BEST pakoda I've ever had, but these were tasty.

 The dahl was served in a cute silver bowl and was served still warm! I guess I shoudln't be too impressed with that, but I've had Indian food here that..just disappointed. The lentils were simmered so wonderfully, smooth, flavorful and melted in your mouth. Each bite held so much spice and spices...The portion wasn't huge but wonderful, each spoonful was savored and thoroughly enjoyed. I definately will come back sometime just for this dish!

Overall, Otsal was an enjoyable experience and GREAT way to stat closing up the night with friends.

서울대입구역 exit 2, walk straight for about 2 minutes, and it's in the basement on your left (Muffini is on the 4th floor)

도토리묵^^*!~

Getting out of work early is...uhh so nice^^*!~
It's still early in the afternoon, the suns out, I'm getting some much needed viatmin D, people are out, places are open, and walking around is more than supported. Whenever I kick it out of my new school I go explore...there are so many roads stretching out from my new station and they're all urging me to discover the hidden buildings, quirky shops, secret amazing noms (reasonabley priced ones of course) and local coffee shops...

The other day I found a family run produce stand (the only one I found thus far) and stumbled upon squashes, bags of lettuce, and 묵!! Acorn jelly, my favorite, simple, low fat, healthy, refreshing, and eerily slippery and tasty...it has no flavor of it's own really, so the addins are the essentials. At this place I got some sprouts, baby greens, lettuce, fresh garlic, and of course 묵!!
Sometime I feel like I spoil myself...

...and then parts of me realize that I' eating the same thing that squirrels do....
                   ...if only I could climb trees so well..
